Carabiniere, 1° Reggimento Fanteria Leggera
Carabinier, 1st Light Infantry Regiment
From the Weiland Manuscript
Light infantry regiments had a company of Carabinieri (from the French carabiniers) instead of the grenadier company fielded by line regiments. This individual wears a uniform more-or-less as prescribed in the 1811 regulations, the only omission being the green piping around the collar. The fur colpack would have been replaced on campaign with a shako.
The Weiland manuscript was produced between 1807 and 1812 by an ex-Württemburg army officer, C. F. Weiland. It covers both French forces and those of their allies, especially the various Confederation of the Rhine states. Two members of the 1st Italian Light are represented:
- Carabiniere (Carabinier)
- Cacciatore (Chasseur) Officer
